In the production process, in order to improve the hardness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the carbon steel plate, a small amount of silicon, manganese, sulfur, phosphorus, and other alloying elements, such as chromium and nickel, may also be added. Different carbon content of carbon steel plates have different properties and uses, the higher the carbon content of general carbon steel, the greater the hardness, the higher the strength, but the lower the plasticity.
Specifically, the carbon steel plate can be divided into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel and high carbon steel according to the carbon content. Low carbon steel is also called mild steel, its carbon content is between 0.1% and 0.3%, has good plasticity and toughness, easy to process molding, often used in the manufacture of products requiring toughness and strength, such as auto parts, machine parts, etc.; The carbon content of medium carbon steel is between 0.3% and 0.6%, its strength and hardness are higher than low carbon steel, but the toughness is slightly worse, and it is usually used to manufacture products with higher strength requirements, such as machine parts, bearings, gears, etc.; High carbon steel carbon content between 0.6% and 1.4%, its hardness and strength is high, but the toughness is poor, not easy to process, usually used to manufacture products requiring extremely high strength, such as springs, saw blades, tools, etc.
